An ITIN is an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number for contributors who are not elegible to obtain a social security number, regardless of the legal status of the individual.

The benefits of obtaining an ITIN include the ability to open a banking account, solicit loans, establish a line of credit and gain interest in banking accounts.
How to obtain an ITIN
There are two types of identifications needed to obtain an ITIN: Passport, Birth Certificate, Consulate Registration or Voter Credentials. The W-7 form is used to obtain an ITIN.
